OUR STORY

The Deep Field Story

The Hubble Space Telescope was launched in 1990 with the goal of providing science with unparalleled insight into the nature of distant celestial objects and our universe. Situated above Earth’s atmosphere in order to be free of visual “noise” in its mission to create detailed imagery of our universe, the telescope is still in use today. The Hubble Deep Field image, created over ten days in late 1995, was a landmark achievement that represented the deepest image captured at the time and yielded one of the earliest pictures of young galaxies.

Deep Field Asset Management was founded in 2014 by Jordan Moelis to invest with a deep, long-range and unobstructed focus. Drawing on his experience at Oaktree Capital, Goldman Sachs’ Special Situations Group and most recently Serengeti Asset Management, Mr. Moelis’s investment philosophy is predicated on diligently and methodically evaluating a prospective investment’s long-term quality and sustainable outlook, while filtering out the “noise” that can give rise to poor investment decisions.

With a philosophically aligned team and a long-term capital base, Deep Field Asset Management’s objective is to continue generating attractive returns for its investors by seeing both the most nuanced details and the big picture for years to come.
